Well folks I'm trying to keep my word and put out some new material this week. Tonights drink of choice....a nice box of red wine. What a week its been! After the blog was picked up by Yahoo Sports (Nice work Puck Daddy - Johnny Drama - love it) and The Fan 590(Toronto Sports Radio Station) it has been a whirl wind. Interviewing publicists and agents. Talking to the screenwriters about Journeyman the movie. Trying to decide who is going to play me. And the press tour!! I am exhausted. As I was getting my nails done Mrs Journeyman informed me that I might be getting a little ahead of myself and maybe, just maybe, I should pull my head out of my ass and pick up the kids from school. One other house keeping note: Just so we are clear Mr.#25, I spoke with my agent about your demand that I only blog on your site......He said one word..."RETAINER!. I want to take a moment and thank everyone who blogged. The Journeyman appreciates the feedback and the questions. If you aren't reading this in your car lets take a moment to raise our PBR's to #25.....what a great Q&A he wrote. I didn't think he had it in him. Ok. Lets get to the questions:
Question: Raven Tina (70.52.216.xxx) 2008-09-25 12:13:46 Journeyman-will you consider doing a book..i work at a publisher and he would Answer:Absolutely. If you think people want to hear my story lets discuss. Just so you know, I may have been a blue collar hockey player but I'm turning into a prima dona writer.
Question: Golf Pro (70.52.216.xxx) 2008-09-25 17:32:12 Pat-if we want to get the journeyman here for a hockey golf tourney to speak Answer: I'm not sure what Rubber Chicken dinner speaking is but I'll talk to my agent
Question: Tracey Donoval (70.52.216.xxx) 2008-09-26 07:32:16 Journeyman-my son is 15 and whl is scouting him--also ncaa schools--is the ncaa Answer: Tracey, thanks for the question. I know alot of people have kids and wonder the same thing. You are probably thinking that ideally you would like your son to get an education but you don't want to get in the way of his dreams of playing in in the NHL. Without having all the details of your situation I'll do my best to answer. Let me share a quote with you from my good friend Michael Jordan: "The cream always rises to the top". - if you are good enough you'll get to where you want to go. The WHL and NCAA are heavily scouted...so exposure will not be a problem. An agent is the least of your worries right now. You and your son need to figure out what his goals are. Once you figure that out write back in and I'll try to advise on the different options. Michael Power (70.52.216.xxx) 2008-09-25 10:18:39
Question: What was the best organization you played for and why Answer: The best organization I played for in the minors......hands down.....The Manitoba Moose. "Winterpeg Man-its-cold-out-here". They run it like an NHL team...they have the best GM, Coach, and Owner not in the NHL...the city is fantastic (and cold)....the fans are passionate...loved (and was cold) every minute of my time there. Best organization in the NHL - tough one.....a tie between Anaheim, Columbus and New York.....all for different reasons. I'll get into those at a later date.
Question: big mac (99.251.188.xxx) 2008-09-23 20:36:27 Sean-can you tell us your thoughts on the state of the economy..your "blue Answer: My personal view is that if we don't get this bailout approved I'll start investing in Survival Training Companies because cash won't matter anymore. I might move back to Northern Ontario and live off the land.
Question: Dryden Dave (70.52.216.xxx) 2008-09-25 09:20:07 how does management and agents treat a journeyman?are you at the bottom half of
Answer: What a great question. As far as agents go I considered myself fortunate to have the one I did. I know alot of them might shuffle you to the "Pay No Mind List" and have a junior partner takeover. The one thing you have to keep in mind (as a journeyman) is whether or not you are high maintenance. If you need alot of contact with your agent then you may want to hire one that is a little less high profile. As for management each team is different. For instance, The Boston Bruins left a bad taste in my mouth. As Journeyman we know we are just pawns but I believe there is a right way and a wrong way to deal with people. Another example, in Columbus, Doug Maclean (and Dave King) were always upfront with me. I may not have liked what they had to say but I respected the fact that they were honest
Question: PBR (70.52.216.xxx) 2008-09-25 09:29:48 Sean-we work for Pabst.we have spoken to our management and want to get you on Answer: Where do I sign? Lets do it!!
Question: Mr Canada (70.52.216.xxx) 2008-09-25 09:48:10 Sean-has this helped your relatiionship with your brother..does he now know what Answer: Thanks for the question Mr. Canada....great handle. Chris has always been aware of the trials and tribulations of life as a journeyman. I remember reading an article about him when he played for St. Louis and one of the questions was "Who do you most admire on your team?" His answer: Chris MacAlpine. Chris P admired all the hard work and sacrifice Chris M made to be ready to go even though he may have been a healthy scratch for weeks on end.
Thank you again for your questions. If I didn't get to them please keep writing and I'll eventually figure it out. Remember: Life's a Journey........MAN!!!
